About
StopWaste helps Alameda County’s businesses, residents, and schools waste less, recycle properly, and use water, energy, and other resources efficiently. We’re a public agency governed by the Alameda County Waste Management Authority, the Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling Board, and the Energy Council.
Why we're Green
In March 2007, StopWaste moved into a building we renovated in downtown Oakland. We’re proud of the effort we put into transforming a rundown, run-of-the-mill structure into a beautiful, green and healthy workplace, achieving LEED®-Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. We also recently achieved Fitwel 2-star certification, a first for any public building in California, demonstrating our commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for our employees.
